Rebelling Dames Of the Czech Music
The Project REBELLING DAMES OF THE CZECH MUSIC, supported by the capital city of Prague, was created in the spring of 2004 in cooperation of the arts agency Taktika Muzika with the Public Library of Prague .
The dramaturgy of the project is defined by the idea to present to a cultivated audience the current face of the female music scene. The individual concerts introduce top Czech authors and interprets of various genres - sometimes not very well-known generally - starting with rock and folk, through jazz and contemporary classical music to original pop. The individual evenings include accompanying words of musicologist Dr. Aleš Opekar. Thanks to high listener and media interest, the project has been continuing for the already fifth year in spite of the original dramaturgical plan.
The expected contribution of the series is increased popularity of the creative work of important Czech composer personalities – interprets of various style–genre orientation – and at the same time contribution to the topic „The Female Element in Contemporary Czech Music“.
Target group of the project are not only traditional visitors of cultural programmes at the City Library in Prague but also university and high school students interested in contemporary Czech music culture in the broader social context.
